One Hitter

I’m not a musician or any other artist of any kind. So I have no idea how difficult it actually is to produce a hit song. It seems to me that the Eighties was a decade of “one hit wonders.” It must be difficult to work so hard as a musician and only be known for one song in your career. Like so many though, this was their fate and they will always be known for that one single.

I have compiled a list of some of the greatest one hit wonders of all time. Of course this is a subjective list based solely on my own opinion. For whatever that’s worth.

In no particular order…

  1. “The Safety Dance” – Men Without Hats
  2. “Whip It!” – Devo
  3. “Obsession” – Animotion
  4. “Too Shy” – Kajagoogoo
  5. “I Melt With You” – Modern English
  6. “Tainted Love” – Soft Cell
  7. “Take On Me” – A-Ha
  8. “Turning Japanese” – The Vapors
  9. “Don’t Worry Be Happy” – Bobby McFerrin
  10. “I Ran” – A Flock Of Seagulls
