For me, a child of the nineties more or less, it was eighties music that really grabbed me. It all started in 1987 where, at the age of 5, I heard Slash’s intense guitar riffs in “Sweet Child O’ Mine.” It was that specific GNR song that hooked me on 80’s rock forever. Maybe it was the IDGAF nature of the artists or the exceptional apparel of the bands that got me. Whatever it was, I loved it, and there has been nothing like it since.
Rock is not where it ends for me. “New Wave” as they call it has a lot to offer the discerning listener. If not for the synthesizing beats, it could be the perplexing hair or the fascinating garb that draw you in ever so deep. With artists such as Tears for Fears, Depeche Mode, and The Cure to name a few, it is hard to comprehend how this superb genre faded.
